Embodied Carbon Awareness

We estimate embodied carbon for major furniture categories using manufacturer EPDs when available. Comparisons are presented at decision gates—not as afterthought summaries.

Reuse of existing furniture is modelled financially and environmentally when inventory audits are provided. Refurbishment options are specified for viable pieces.

Material Health

Low-VOC adhesives, finishes, and textiles are specified for occupied renovation projects. Certifications such as EU Ecolabel or comparable are requested in tender documents.

We avoid specifying materials with known regulatory restrictions in the Netherlands. Substitution requests are checked against the same health criteria.

Operational Energy

Lighting power densities and HVAC zoning recommendations align with lower operational use. We do not perform full MEP engineering but flag overspecified lighting loads to engineers.

Occupancy-based controls are encouraged for meeting rooms and phone booths. Measurable kWh reductions depend on building management commitment.

Waste and Circularity

Demountable partitions and modular carpet tiles support end-of-lease removal. Take-back programmes from manufacturers are listed when contractually available.

Construction waste separation requirements are noted in employer requirements documents. We track furniture packaging waste reduction targets on large roll-outs.

Reporting

Sustainability summaries can be formatted for CSRD-aligned corporate reporting when clients provide disclosure templates. We do not provide legal assurance on ESG statements.

Annual review of our own studio operations includes commuter surveys and paper reduction metrics. Client project choices remain independent of our internal footprint.
